GUEST POST:WALLPAPER ISN'T JUST FOR WALLS--GRAHAM&BROWN

Gorgeous wallpaper designs may look wonderful on your walls, but they can also be used in other areas of the home for a quirky, alternative twist to your interior design. Wallpaper can be used in plenty of practical ways to spruce up your home without papering all your walls.

Whether you’re working with leftovers and offcuts, or you’re buying a fresh roll to get creative, we’ve put together some top tips and inspiration ideas to fuel your next project.

Before you get started - know your adhesives

Depending on where you’re applying your wallpaper, you’ll need the correct type of glue for the job. It sounds simple, but that dry glue stick that’s lurking in the back of your stationery drawer is certainly not fit for the job!

Consider purchasing a reliable waterproof adhesive. An all-purpose glue will allow you to stick your wallpaper to anything from wood, to glass and even material.

 Room 1: The kitchen

There are many ways to brighten up your kitchen with a few bits of wallpaper. For a flash of color, why not choose a vibrant, contrasting design to line your cupboards and drawers? Every time you open your cupboards you’ll be greeted with a cheerful burst of uplifting color, perfect for quelling the stress you feel when cooking a meal for your entire family!

Consider this Fabulous Pearl & Teal Wallpaper By Graham & Brown.

Room 2: Living room

This stunning lined bookcase would look perfect in your living room and provides an easy way to update a mundane feature in your home. Perhaps you could even have a different design for each compartment to reflect what type of books are kept in each section?

Remember, the idea is to make your bookcase stand out, so don’t be afraid of applying a design that is completely different to your current wallpaper.

Room 3: Corridor

Forget about borders and dado rails, there’s an even more impressive way to jazz up the passageways of your home. This beautiful staircase features a small strip of wallpaper on each step and creates a kitsch, ‘doll house’ style, completely transforming the look and feel of your home.

If you have a wooden staircase that has seen better days, but you can’t face the task of sanding down and lacquering each step, this could be a faster and more affordable alternative. Simply paint your bannister and steps in a neutral shade, even white will do, and get to work with the most wonderful patterned paper you can find. Although each step doesn’t need to match, you should try and stick to similar colors for a running theme that will pull the look of your staircase together.

Room 4: Dining room

Upcycle some old containers and tin cans to create gorgeous homemade table decorations, such as vases. A little bit of wallpaper can go a long way when you’re creating these wonderful centerpieces. Intricate patterns work wonderfully on these stunning recycled pots, so pick eye-catching designs that will draw your guests’ attention to your hand-crafted feature.

So what are you waiting for? We’ve given you plenty of ideas to get you started, but this is just the tip of the iceberg! From lampshade coverings to wallpaper headboards, the possibilities are endless when you let your imagination run wild.

HOW TO DO ONLINE FURNITURE SHOPPING

Is it really possible to have a 250 USD KING SIZE bed made with the finest materials to be shipped to your home within 24 hrs??

Yes it is!!! But only if you know where to look for...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently , I have been going through a lot of online shopping experience for my clients. So, TRUST ME, once you start enjoying it, it becomes irresistible!!!

IMG_0630.JPG

Clearly , online shopping has both advantages and disadvantages.

But if you compare the downsides with what you achieve in such a short period of time, you will see that the act is priceless!!!

Let's say, you want to buy a fancy dresser and you have been looking for it forever! First of all, showrooms can only display limited number of pieces and then again, you might not even have the store you are looking for anywhere near you.

Isn't that why almost all bestseller furniture stores also have online shopping 👀

IMG_0692.PNG

That is when online shopping steps in ,with its limitless number of websites displaying tons of furniture options and their prices.

Yes, with their prices!!! This fact by itself is a winner! Don't tell me that you have never been to a store where you could not even come close to asking the price for a tiny piece of furniture ⁉️⁉️

Plus,do you ever think about how long it takes to wait for a sales representative to ask her if a piece is in stock or not ,or if it comes in a different colour and size?

Now that's where online shopping wins again👍🏻

IMG_0693.PNG

Also, NEVER FORGET:a website cannot make a mistake with the number of items in stock or a detailed measurement. The only disappointing experience can sometimes be the lack of information on a product. To avoid that, I use trustworthy web sources with adequate product details.

IMG_0632.JPG

Of course, seeing it real can never be as satisfying as seeing it on screen, but when you add up all the advantages, online shopping is priceless!

Besides, nowadays when TIME is such a great treasure, who can deny the act of buying a client's furniture in minutes without even planning for a scheduled store visit?

IMG_0691.PNG

Now,I must confess that my favourite furniture cruising time is at night in my pjs 😊So stay relaxed and click away whenever and however you like for furniture of any size and price without waiting in line...

BEFORE AND AFTER

11 (5).jpg

One summer ago, a friend of mine and her husband stepped into the office for a bedroom makeover. As I remember then, their major intention was to join the old balcony to the room. By the way, they were expecting their second daughter who was about to be born in a month and YES of course they were in a RUSH❗️

IMG_5514.JPG

The initial plan was to get rid of the old balcony walls and windows and plan a bigger space. So, we decided to keep the flooring to save ourselves some time and money to splurge on the wallpaper and fabrics...

IMG_5508.JPG

Another major concern was the poor organisation of their old wardrobe! Sliding doors were not practical for the working couple!Nothing was quite visible and morning dressing ritual was a burden !!!

Therefore, we designed an open walk in closet space for their individual needs.

TesMimarlık_48.jpg

After planning the fundamental pieces of the bedroom, we still had more space to play around with!Balcony had a nice view and nobody could resist sitting by those windows.SO, we designed a built in seating arrangement and had it custom made to fit our new space.Frankly, I believe the comfy window seat is the reason why the young couple spend so much time in their new bedroom😊

IMG_3762.JPG

The old balcony floor had ceramics and no new hardwood floor would match the old one.

That is why, we went ahead and changed it with a wall to wall carpeting for a cosier feel.

TesMimarlık_49.jpg

As the couple desired to sleep facing the windows, we designed a double duty closet door as a bed headboard with MDF backing. And then, we dressed it with the cutest wallpaper which I really fell in love with😍 Seriously, the YELLOW in the paper was our sunny inspiration for the remaining selections of fabrics and accessories.

Despite the crazy humid and hot weather and strict working hours implied by the neighbors,we were lucky enough to finish every detail before the new member of the family arrived👏👏

TIPS TO RESTYLE YOUR CEILINGS

Are you looking for inventive ways to style your home? Do you want to spruce up the look without accenting your walls?

Then it is time to spoil your ceilings❗️And when I say spoil, I don't just mean splurging on a pendant or a paint color. So come on and read to see my tips to style them up a bit.

JAZZY WORKPLACE Project by TESINTERIORS

Ceilings come in different sizes and shapes. Most houses usually have plain ones with coats of paint or even popcorn ceilings which almost any tasteful person would immediately upgrade. The major perspective for decision making is the height of your ceiling.High ceilings are in general an object of desire.Yet, you might want to scale it down for a cozy and complete look.

Here are some interesting ways to do it .Moulding is my favorite. You can use any material as long as it is safely constructed!Just make sure you will enjoy it when looking up...And trust me French know how to do it 👌

By the way, worship a ceiling if it withholds history! Luckily throughout the years I have come across such ceilings especially in restoration projects. For the FRESCO BRAUNSTEIN project, I clearly remember how thrilled I was when looking for a talent to restore the cracked painting.

Short ceilings can also be very attractive when tailored right! You might fear that they will be overwhelming when you restyle them. But don't worry because dressing your ceiling is going to give your space more depth instead! So , I would suggest you to go for figured wallpapers ,maybe mirrored tiles or even mix of colors! Just make sure you do not bring down the height with extra suspended beams or decorative features.

Some ceilings come with structural features on their own! They might be decorative enough or you can restyle a little with easy touch ups! I recommend painting if you want to expose the structure.Or you can even restore and leave them bare to honor the architectural elements .

DO NOT FORGET that attractions radiating from the center generally expand the room size whereas side trims set boundaries to your space.

Now come on! This exactly what powder rooms are for!So keep reading for a BOLD LOOK.

Design by TESINTERIORS

A powder room is a focal point in a house like a pit stop for your guests to refresh. I will try to give easy inspirational tips for a fancy design. First of all, keep in mind that a powder room never has to reflect your overall interior. Instead,it can have a character of its own with your stylish touches.

VIA MYDOMAINE

One does not recall an interior relative to size or budget. So,try to impress guests with a captivating feeling! Now, stop for a moment to daydream!Imagine yourself in a happy exotic beach  or a misty forest ! Pin  colours that reflect your mood.

Let's say your theme rolls around a sunny happy day on the beach: then head for hues of blue ,waves or figures from the ocean.Gold or sand colored features are usually captivating. As the design process will be self-guided,be as creative as you like...

Another classic design method is to get inspiration from a wallpaper or a paint colour.Considering their space areas, walls will probably be the major focus in a powder room. That is why,an eye catching pattern can immediately create the whole story .

VIA BLOGLOVIN||Design by KATIE ROSENFELD

Do you feel distressed to be left with a flashy wall to deal with? Well, in this case, opt for a charming mirror ,wall light or artwork! Dramatic mirror frames, and vintage fixtures are all fair play! Just make sure to choose vivid and sparkling pieces as eye candy 🍭
