Why,How or When ???
If you are one of the curios majority who want to justify the rug on a rug trend, read on to learn WHY, WHEN and HOW we designers prefer to use it.

VIA ERIKA BRECHTEL

WHY???
Well, first of all, layering a vibrant rug on an old or boring carpeted flooring will definitely add texture and depth to your space.

Secondly, it will enhance the space it is used in and maybe even define new borders. So, ADD richness to your space by bringing in color or texture with rug layering.

ALSO, using a striking rug on a plain one will clearly draw more attention to the furniture placed on it. Therefore, it is the best way to dramatize the effect of a centerpiece.

If you have a very light colored delicate rug that can be easily stained, you can protect it by layering a hard wearing, patterned dark kilim on top.

WHEN???

If your existing high quality rug is visibly stained and there is no way to get it off, then go ahead and buy a new cheaper rug smaller in size and place it on top of the valuable one. Thus, you still have your precious aged rug underlying the newcomer.

You want to change colors but you still want to keep an old rug you love! Well then, go shopping for a cheaper and bigger rug with your new color preference and place it underneath your old one to change the ambiance.

You have completed your entire decoration with a simple and plain rug and you feel something is missing! Maybe you were not brave enough to buy that big vibrant rug, or maybe your dream rug was out of your budget.
Keep in mind that you can easily twist a plain decoration with a small colorful and patterned rug and DON'T FORGET:smaller size will be easier on your pocket.

HOW???

A popular method is to put a cowhide on a jute rug or on a wall to wall carpeted flooring. It has no definite boundaries,so, it will make your space look bigger.Personally,I prefer to use black and white zebra look to create more depth.

Another great way to spruce up your decoration is by placing a round rug on a bigger rectangular rug. It will certainly create a major focal point.I recommend using this method to draw attention to a center piece of furniture like a coffee table or an ottoman.

Layer them unconventionally , maybe half and half for a wider feeling of space. You will definitely MAKE A STATEMENT with an antique kilim randomly layered on top of a plain natural fiber rug.

Confession:No matter why, when and how,RUG ON A RUG is a favorite design trend I won’t give up soon. So, I say, dig in to find old rugs in your storage spaces and layer them for a totally fascinating and stylish new look.

KITCHEN NOOKS

Are you having BREAKFAST with your family or DINNER with close friends?Either way, the best setting will be a kitchen nook with a built- in bench and a dining table.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personally ,I am a big fan of the kitchen nooks, so, I will never miss an extra space to design one in any kitchen project.

NOOKS will bring character to any kitchen with their individual designs and colors. The size and the shape of a nook generally depends on your spatial availability. Preferably, window sides are great to build nooks .Noone likes to block daylight with top cabinets, so, a nook is always a great solution in a kitchen with spare windows and enough room. And also, who can deny the charm of having a freshly brewed morning coffee in a window nook???

No matter the size, a kitchen with a nook will always be more charming because, it will be a perfect gathering spot for all members of your family. So, make sure you tuck one and style it up!!!

Mostly, nooks are designed with a bench and chairs or stools around a dining table. L shaped benches are very common as getting in and out is quite easy. But, I recommend using a U shaped bench if you have enough space to utilize.A spacious nook will always look GRAND.

A TIP TO KEEP IN MIND:  Try to place a round , oval or a curved cornered table if your space is limited.

AND DON'T FORGET:Round tables work best with square layouts whereas oval and rectangle shaped tables work best with more linear shaped nook spaces.

I often design NOOKS with built-in benches as they are always great for storage! You can have drawers or cabinets under your cushions to pile away extras of any kind...

Although,"Styling A Nook" is another great topic for a future blog, I will confess that my favorite nooks are designed white lacquered wood furniture and vibrant colored cushions ,pillows and accessories.

TIPS TO RESTYLE YOUR CEILINGS

Are you looking for inventive ways to style your home? Do you want to spruce up the look without accenting your walls?

Then it is time to spoil your ceilings❗️And when I say spoil, I don't just mean splurging on a pendant or a paint color. So come on and read to see my tips to style them up a bit.

JAZZY WORKPLACE Project by TESINTERIORS

Ceilings come in different sizes and shapes. Most houses usually have plain ones with coats of paint or even popcorn ceilings which almost any tasteful person would immediately upgrade. The major perspective for decision making is the height of your ceiling.High ceilings are in general an object of desire.Yet, you might want to scale it down for a cozy and complete look.

Here are some interesting ways to do it .Moulding is my favorite. You can use any material as long as it is safely constructed!Just make sure you will enjoy it when looking up...And trust me French know how to do it 👌

By the way, worship a ceiling if it withholds history! Luckily throughout the years I have come across such ceilings especially in restoration projects. For the FRESCO BRAUNSTEIN project, I clearly remember how thrilled I was when looking for a talent to restore the cracked painting.

Short ceilings can also be very attractive when tailored right! You might fear that they will be overwhelming when you restyle them. But don't worry because dressing your ceiling is going to give your space more depth instead! So , I would suggest you to go for figured wallpapers ,maybe mirrored tiles or even mix of colors! Just make sure you do not bring down the height with extra suspended beams or decorative features.

Some ceilings come with structural features on their own! They might be decorative enough or you can restyle a little with easy touch ups! I recommend painting if you want to expose the structure.Or you can even restore and leave them bare to honor the architectural elements .

DO NOT FORGET that attractions radiating from the center generally expand the room size whereas side trims set boundaries to your space.
